We’re thrilled to announce that the Visitation Hotel, A Marriott Tribute Hotel in Frederick, MD has been recognized with a Citation in Historic Resources by the 2025 AIA|DC Chapter Design Awards.

This mixed-use development brings new life to the former Visitation Academy campus in Frederick, MD—a storied institution dating back to 1846. The transformation honors the site’s past while embracing a forward-looking design vision, blending preserved architectural features with contemporary elements.

This transformation exemplifies adaptive reuse, converting a former convent and school into a sophisticated hotel destination featuring 65 guest rooms, a full-service spa, performance venue, and fine dining experiences.
